Unplanned construction: Eagleson Northbound Closure
As many residents in Richmond know, there was a meeting last night in the village regarding the Village of Richmond Forcemain twinning project. A manufacturing fault that the City identified prior to taking acceptance of the forcemain pipe will mean that the work must be redone. This work will not result in any new cost onto taxpayers.

This additional, unplanned construction work will take place over this summer and into the fall. It will result in the closure of Eagleson's northbound lane between Perth/Old Richmond Road and Fallowfield. The closure will begin on June 2nd.

Ward Updates

Richmond Pump Station Bypass Pumping
The first phase of the Richmond Pumping Station Bypass has begun and is anticipated to be completed by next Friday, May 31. The contractor will employ noise mitigation measures to minimize noise impacts on residents.

The Mayor’s Annual Canada Day Celebration for Seniors
Mayor Sutcliffe is once again hosting his annual Canada Day Celebration for Seniors. This event will take place on Monday, July 1st, 2024, from 8:00 - 10:30am in the Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne Park. If you are interested in receiving a ticket, please reach out to our office at ward21@ottawa.ca or by emailing protocolrsvp@ottawa.ca. Space is limited so please make sure to reach out soon!

Waste Diversion in Parks Pilot
In order to test ways to better manage garbage, recycling, and other waste in our parks, the City is running a Waste Diversion in Parks pilot project. Richmond Lions Community Park was selected as one of the parks for this pilot, so residents should soon see these bins added. If the pilot is successful, more waste diversion options may eventually be expanded to other parks across the City.

City plans to roll out three-item garbage limit in the fall
Residents will have received or will soon receive information from the City about the roll out of a new curbside collection policy. As I have noted in previous newsletters, the solution that was arrived at was a compromise - one which I was not satisfied with but one which was far better than what was initially proposed.
