We are four months into the next four years of this term of council. It has been a busy time for the Ward 21 team.

In the first few months, I’ve tried to meet with every community association, not-for-profit and registered charity that has reached out so I can understand the challenges they are facing. As I wrote in a previous Manotick Messenger article, most of the community activities in our villages are run by volunteer groups and associations.

Ward Updates

Cleaning the Capital Spring Campaign 
Spring is on its way and the Cleaning the Capital Spring Campaign will proceed with registration starting March 15th, with cleanup projects taking place between April 15 and May 31. Recognition will be given to the ward with the most projects completed. Let’s work together to make Ward 21 number one! Learn more

Rural Youth Employment and Resource Fair

Rural Ottawa Youth Mental Health Check-in Survey
ROYMHC has just released its bi-annual mental health survey for 2023. The survey is open to rural youth aged 12-24 Participants will be entered into a draw to win one of twenty $100 gift cards to a business of their choice. Deadline to submit is April 11, 2023. Take the survey

Training summit for mentors of rural youth
ROYMHC will be hosting a one-day training summit for mentors of rural youth on Saturday, April 1st, 2023. Mentors of youth can be anyone over the age of 16 who works with youth (aged 12-24) in rural Ottawa. The summit will be held at the Manotick Community Centre, from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Learn more

March is Kidney Health Month: People living with kidney disease fight a lifelong battle, and The Kidney Foundation’s mission is to support those affected every step of the way with trusted educational resources and peer support programs. Canadians are invited to #MakeYourMark on kidney disease by sharing the campaign on social media and by donating at: www.kidneyontario.ca

Supporting Women in their Leadership Journey: On April 4, join ZONTA for an announcement event regarding the launch of the Kanata chapter. Guest speaker Jenna Sudds, MP for Kanata-Carleton, will speak to building a better world for women and girls. Learn more

Lansdowne 2.0 - Have your say!
Sports fans, music fans and urban planning fans are all invited to discuss plans for Lansdowne 2.0. The City of Ottawa and Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group have worked together to create a plan that reflects the history, unique location and role of Lansdowne as a year-round gathering place for Canada’s capital.
