Villages throughout our Ward are reaching major milestones. For instance, St. John the Baptist church in Richmond is hitting its 200-year anniversaries. As churches were among the first buildings established in many villages throughout our ward, I wanted to take a few moments to highlight their history and centrality in our communities.

Ward Updates

Manotick Truck Update: Residents will know by now that getting the trucks out of Manotick is my top priority as your Councillor. In previous updates, I have outlined my progress to date and hinted that more progress was coming in June. Today, I presented an inquiry to the Transportation Committee that will be a major step forward for this effort. Learn more

King’s Park (Richmond) Well Maintenance: The City of Ottawa will be performing proactive and preventative maintenance work on the communal well system servicing the King’s Park neighbourhood in Richmond. During this work, the clean and safe water that you rely on will continue to be available. There may be an increase of City vehicles and traffic in and around the two water stations in your area. Learn more

Road Resurfacing
You may have noticed contractors starting to mobilize for the resurfacing projects in our ward. Work will include the following roads/sections:
• McCordick Rd from 362m South of Lockhead Rd to 673m South of Lockhead R
• McCordick Rd from Roger Stevens to 80m south of Church St 
• McCordick Rd from 30m north of Pierce Rd to 140m South of Pierce Rd
• McCordick Rd from 14m North of Lockhead Rd to 104m North of Lockhead Rd
• McCordick Rd from 310m North of Mackey Rd to 370m North of Mackey Rd
• Settler’s Way from Paden East to Paden West
• McCartney St from Settlers Way (West) to Setter’s Way (East)
• Cambrian Rd from 25m west of Twin Elm Rd to 370m East of Twin Elm Rd
• Twin Elm Rd from 370m South of Cambrian Rd W to 15m North of Cambrian Rd West

Renewal of Fourth Line Road Bridge to begin in August
Construction to replace the Fourth Line Road Bridge over the Crawford Hill Municipal Drain is tentatively scheduled to commence in August, and will require that Fourth Line Road be closed for the duration of construction, approximately 10 weeks. A detour using Pollock Road, McCordick Road and Century Road West will be in place. 

Ongoing Road Closures

  • EXTENDED: The Barnsdale Road closure, from Twin Elm Road to Moodie Drive, has been extended until June 30, 2023. Monday to Friday, 9 to 3.

  • Shea Road Southbound, from Fernbank to Flewellyn, until Monday, July 31, 2023.

  • Eagleson Road Northbound, from Perth Street to Fallowfield, until August 25, 2023.

Bicentennial Celebration: St. John Baptist Anglican Church will be celebrating its bicentennial with a day of activities, on June 24, from 11 to 6. Learn more

Fiddles on the Rideau Festival: It’s the first Fiddles on the Rideau Festival in Manotick, happening July 14-16, 2023, at the Manotick United Church. Learn more

Kars Family Fun Day: Come out for a day of food, fun and music on July 15, from 8 am to 10 pm, including a complimentary BBQ dinner from the Ward 21 team. Learn more

Ramp Paint Event: Help paint ramps to improve accessibility to local businesses, on July 22nd and 29th, from 9am - 1pm at Ottawa Tool Library, 877a Boyd Avenue. Learn more

Hamlet in the Park: Join a Company of Fools as they present their version of Hamlet on July 20, at Centennial Park, at 7 pm. This fast-paced 90-minute rendition of the Bard’s greatest tragedy will feature disemboweled puppets, a sword fight to the death, live underscoring, and 5 actors taking on 15 different roles. Learn more
