Happy Canada Day!
On Monday, July 1st, Canadians will celebrate 157 years since the confederation of our country. I hope everyone in Rideau-Jock can enjoy themselves this long weekend.

Ward Updates

Living Snow Fence Pilot Program
Earlier this month, City Council unanimously passed a motion that I put forward to pilot a "Living Snow Fence Program." By taking advantage of vegetation, we can use trees and shrubs that decrease wind speed and contain drifting snow from creating hazardous wintertime road conditions.

Read more here.

Trees in Trust Program (Deadline July 1st)
The City’s Trees in Trust program needs residents’ help to find suitable locations for street trees. Street trees are available by request on a first come, first served basis. If your City-owned street frontage lacks a tree and you have the time and commitment to help care for one, please complete a request with the Forestry Department. The deadline to get a tree planted this fall is July 1st.

This program applies only to homes with street frontage (the space between your property line and the roadway) and we do require residents to water the tree for the first three years after planting.

Previous updates

I was happy to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Richmond and District Lions Club this month!

The Kemptville District Hospital celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for their CT Scanner. The hospital and KDH Foundation have raised a remarkable $1.6 Million to date through their CT Scanner Crossroads Campaign through the generosity of the greater community.
