Perth and Meynell Update
As many know, the roundabout planned at Perth and Meynell was delayed due to crew availability issues. More information on that delay is available here.
As I promised the community, I have been working with the developer and the City to introduce measures to reduce speeding and improve safety. To that end, I have an update on the measures that will be introduced in the coming weeks.
The following proposed safety changes have been agreed to:
OSTA has agreed to move the school bus stop to an area within the subdivision to improve safety for children.
Solid painted lines, stop bars, and construction barrels will be placed to visually improve and narrow the intersection, a move that often is effective at reducing speeding as drivers tend to drive to the perceived condition of the road.
A variable message sign will be used to warn eastbound drivers of the speed limit change as they approach the village.
My office is working with staff to introduce speed boards at both ends of the intersection to let drivers know how fast they are going and to encourage them to slow down. These boards are effective at increasing speed limit compliance throughout the City.
There are many other measures that my office asked for, some of which are still being explored by Caivan and the City. As always, I will provide residents with updated information as soon as I have it.
