Residents may expect to hear additional noise, and residents within 75 meters of where the blasting is scheduled to occur will have received a letter from Blastek Engineering Group providing instructions for complementary pre-blast inspections. Our office has not been provided with a timeline for when the blasting is scheduled to occur, but it will not occur prior to the inspection deadline of October 27. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact Blastek.

Construction Updates

Meynell/Perth Roundabout
Crews have been onsite to begin construction work. Residents may have noticed staging work and pylons being deployed to the site. Caivan’s senior management clarified that the delay on their end was due to crew shortages with their contractor. With those issues now resolved, the roundabout is anticipated to be completed by the end of November. We have communicated with Caivan the community's frustrations with delays and the expectation that work will be completed on schedule.

Lennox Street Grading
As part of the Richmond Pumping Station upgrades, the City is undertaking an alteration to the floodplain at the Lennox Street park. The work will also include the addition of new trees. The work started on October 10 and is expected to be ongoing for about 2 weeks.

Road Closures

Rideau Valley Drive from Phelan Road to Roger Stevens Drive has been completed early and is now reopened to the public for travel.

Fourth Line from Pollock to Century Road West is closed due to excavation and box culvert replacement activities. Work on Fourth Line is ongoing but delays were encountered due to unforeseen circumstances outside the City’s control, including significant vandalism of equipment on site. Work has resumed and is expected to be completed before the end of November.

Brownlee Road from Shea Road to Huntley Road is closed for culvert replacement until November 15.

Marina Drive from between Timagami Court and Rideau Valley Drive North will be closed for culvert replacement until October 25.

Phelan Road West from Third Line Road South to Prince of Wales Drive will be closed for culvert replacement between October 23 to October 30.
