ROYMHC will be hosting a one-day training summit for mentors of rural youth on Saturday, April 1st, 2023. Mentors of youth can be anyone over the age of 16 who works with youth (aged 12-24) in rural Ottawa. This may be coaches, scout leaders, youth workers, teachers, faith leaders, etc.
The summit will include certified suicide prevention training in:

This workshop is not recommended for those who have thoughts of suicide or who have recently lost someone to suicide.
And a choice of training in either:
- How to Help a Friend (hosted by YouthNet/ReseauAdo): Teaches healthy ways to help youth through a mental health struggle, and how to navigate appropriate mental health resources.
OR
- Motivational Interviewing (hosted by Living Healthy Champlain): Training in guided communication focused on eliciting behavioural change.
The summit will be held at the Manotick Community Centre (5572 Dr Leach dr., Manotick ON) from 8:30am to 4pm. Lunch will be provided along with coffee/tea and a morning snack. Gas card and honorariums/staff time will be provided. Please encourage people to register ASAP because there are limited # of spots available.
